As YoChild-Africa started supporting less privileged children through school, it has been amazing to see how important it is to invest in such children faced with poverty yet concealing great potential destined for a magnificent future. The most exciting investment that should be made in every child’s life is to equip them with education and knowledge to be able to see their true potential. This knowledge should place emphasis on the development of the mental, physical, spiritual and social aspect of their life and guarantee a child who is fully empowered and transformed in life. This can only be achieved through a school that recognises the uniqueness of each child and their intellectual and social contribution.

Education is a way of life, children learn through fellow children, adults, parents and teachers to relate, function spiritually and physically and enrich their mental potential. A School should be a place where children get such opportunities to learn, grow and develop because Children spend much of their earlier life in school.

With holistic learning tending to diminish due to the utmost emphasis placed on academic performance over productivity, We are faced with a generation of children deficient of life skills, values and not aware of their potential and identity. Schools are inclined to neglect the role they play in the holistic growth and development of children in this generation due to the poor curriculum, lack of teachers, social and economic challenges.

The Kiboga school project will look at supporting children through holistic education that with focus on holistic development each child. This is a lifelong process that requires commitment and working together with all stakeholders but we are ready to start on it.

With our specially designed classrooms and school curriculum, we are hopeful of helping children learn and grow in an environment of respect and honour, harnessing their potential while learning to appreciate their unique abilities. Our curriculum will aim at enriching all the aspects of their life preparing them to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood by building on their capabilities and strengths and addressing a full range of developmental needs. With the example of Christ in the bible, we aim to appeal to the four areas of every child’ And Jesus grew in wisdom (mental) and stature (physical), and in favour with God (spiritual) and man (Social)’. Like 2:52 (NIV).

As we finalize plans to establish a learning center in the heart of Kiboga, we envision a child out of this school who is empowered and transformed socially, physically, mentally and spiritually. We are committed to promoting activities and experiences that help children develop social, ethical, emotional, physical, and cognitive competencies.

We plan to achieve this goal through hands-on and lifelong learning which is the greatest teaching mechanism one can employ through life. We believe that while one may go to school to learn, that this is not the only place to learn, our educational experience may greatly be enriched by outdoor fieldwork and hands-on exposure.

We invite you to our dream as we seek to make a mark on our generation. Every child matters in this generation.
